The power of words

“I am not a celebrity, I am not a show. I am not unreachable or untouchable. I am a promise you made to yourself when you were a little girl and I am coming true.”

These words were  printed on a laminated card that was given to me by my track coach in high school. This small pocket sized card held a lot of power in my life. When things were tough, and I felt like hope was lost these words would ring in my head. I knew that someday I would accomplish things that seemed impossible, and that no matter what happened I would never give up. I wanted more for myself, and I was determined to make it happen.

I keep my favorite quote at my desk too. It changed my perspective and how I see life. I found it in a greeting card after being in the hospital for two years and I instantly broke down in tears… it just made everything click for me. Life wasn’t over, it was just beginning and I knew my hard times would pass.

“…and after all that, she found she still knew the words to the song in her heart, and she began to sing along.”
